Problem Overview
A leading thermal power plant operator in UAE wanted to determine the remaining life of HRSG sections such as screen tubes, economizer and superheater so that they can plan their maintenance budget based on urgency.
Scope
– Review of engineering design drawings and datasheet
– Gathering and analysis of current and historical operational data, tube failure records
– Develop mode to calculate metal wall temperatures
– Calculate remaining life
Outcome
– Based on PNES recommendation, client made the right choice in budget planning and avoided unnecessary huge outage and equipment cost.
– PNES implemented some additional instruments to monitor and ensure that future operation does not jeopardize equipment life.
